Wärtsilä (WDSL) is expanding its local presence in Taiwan and seeks English-speaking Taiwanese nationals to join a team of equals overseeing delivery, installation, and supplier audits. These roles report day-to-day into Taiwan and work closely with the UK for decisions and actions.
We are looking for a dynamic individual, Delivery Engineer with experience working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary teams in delivering technical customer support ideally within a Maritime environment. The incumbent will demonstrate a passionate customer-focus, on time delivery, a strong sense of ownership, be comfortable working on-board during new build and vessel maintenance periods and be able to demonstrate an ability to integrate in-house and third-party products and solutions.
The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent basis and will be based out of our office in Kaohsiung Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent Wärtsilä (WDSL) to clients and suppliers in Taiwan. Oversee delivery and installation of marine propulsion systems and component items. Liaise with suppliers; verify equipment quality and functionality before and after client installation. Conduct supplier audits and site checks to ensure adherence to industry best practices. Support ongoing deliveries and new-build vessel projects. Collaborate with UK and Taiwan Field Service Engineers; provide clear reporting locally and to the UK.
Requirements:
Taiwanese national; fluent in English (Mandarin a plus/assumed). Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maritime engineering field, either at sea, in vessel overhaul or new build shipyard environments. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, assembly, installation, and maintenance regimes. Awareness of current industry best practices in marine/mechanical fields. Mechanical craft qualifications (or equivalent vocational/technical certification). Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to travel within Taiwan and abroad.
Training and Development:
Structured onboarding and training provided. Initial training period in the UK alongside UK-based colleagues to learn Wärtsilä (WDSL) processes and ways of working. Practical training in 'new' stat of the art shaftline facilities. Ongoing mentorship from UK and/or Taiwan Field Service Engineers.
