As a Deli Manager, you’ll lead a high‑energy department focused on quality, freshness, and exceptional customer service. You’ll supervise a talented team, oversee daily deli operations, and play an important role in creating an inviting, high‑quality experience for customers. This is an ideal role for individuals with experience in deli operations, fresh foods, retail store management, or team leadership looking to grow their career. 
 

Main responsibilities:

Lead and oversee all daily operations of the Deli Department, ensuring excellent service, quality, presentation, and merchandising. Supervise and support Deli Clerks, Assistant Deli Managers, and department associates to achieve performance, service, and safety standards. Manage department staffing, scheduling, training, and task delegation. Drive results by achieving sales, gross profit, labor, shrink, and inventory goals. Maintain top‑tier product freshness, proper rotation, and consistent food safety practices. Support customer engagement through friendly, knowledgeable service and effective selling behaviors. Perform stocking, food prep, and service duties as needed to support the team. Uphold company policies, department standards, and operational expectations. Take ownership of the department and act as Manager‑on‑Duty when needed. Support cross‑department collaboration, including shared oversight of Seafood or LaCarte when assigned. Ensure a clean, organized, well‑merchandised deli environment that reflects our brand standards. 

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

Soft skills: Strong leadership and team‑building skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Ability to stay organized and calm in a fast‑paced environment Professional, positive interpersonal style Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills  Competencies:  Experience in deli, fresh food retail, prepared foods, grocery, or department‑level supervision Understanding of food handling, food safety, and sanitation practices Skill in merchandising, stocking, product rotation, and presentation Ability to coach, train, and motivate a diverse team  Knowledge:  Deli operations and prepared foods production Customer service and retail selling techniques Department standards including pricing, organization, and safety Basic supervisory concepts and performance expectations  Abilities:  Lead and manage a team in a fast‑paced retail environment Perform repetitive tasks and work in varied temperature settings (cooler, freezer, sales floor) Lift, bend, and handle products and equipment safely Respond effectively to operational issues and customer needs  Educational requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred  Travel requirements: Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings  Other requirements:  Must be at least 18 years old  Full‑time availability, including weekends, evenings, and peak business times Ability to maintain safety, quality, and operational standards

Pay transparency language (if applicable)

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on the length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay and retirement benefits pension and/or 401(k) eligibility.
