Job Title: Deck Electrician
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Deck Electrician with previous experience in marine applications. This position requires a professional who can work independently and is adept in handling electrical tasks aboard Navy vessels.

ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages.Work independently with proper instruction.Use basic electrical meters and test instruments proficiently, including volt-ohm meters, clamp-on ammeters, and insulation resistance testers.Perform general deck electrician tasks such as laying off and mounting electrical equipment and wireways, installing cable penetrations in equipment, bulkheads, and decks, as well as cable installation, terminations, and hook-ups.Utilize basic electrician hand tools efficiently, including pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and connector crimping tools.Maintain physical ability to climb vertical and inclined stairs and ladders, crawl, bend, stoop, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces.Essential SkillsThree or more years of experience in the electrical field, specifically in marine applications.Ability to read and interpret complex electrical installation drawings and schematics.Proficiency in using electrical meters and testing instruments.Experience with general deck electrician work, including equipment installation and cable management.Competence in using standard electrician hand tools.Physical fitness to perform duties in challenging environments.Additional Skills & QualificationsMarine electrician experience is advantageous.Experience as an electrician mate or with electrical testing, terminations, and cable installation is desirable.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This role is based in a shipyard located in Southeast Virginia, which spans over five miles. The climate is hot and muggy during the summer and cool in the winter. Work will be conducted on Navy vessels or in a shop environment. The facility operates three shifts: 1st shift from 7am-3:30pm, 2nd shift from 3:30-11pm, and 3rd shift from 11pm-7am. Candidates should be flexible to work any shift.

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.36 - $27.31/hr.
