HOW A DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Administer, monitor, and maintain both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases across production and development environmentsPerform routine database maintenance tasks including backups, patches, tuning, and upgradesDesign, implement, and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and indexing strategies for performance and scalabilityEnsure data integrity, availability, and security, complying with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to integrate backend data solutionsTroubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization and locking conflictsImplement and maintain disaster recovery and high availability solutions such as Data Guard, AlwaysOn, or failover clusteringCreate and maintain documentation related to database design, configuration, and proceduresRequired Skills:
Strong proficiency with PL/SQL, T-SQL, and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell or Bash)Familiar with database monitoring and automation tools (e.g., OEM, SQL Server Management Studio, Redgate, SolarWinds)Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a big plusUnderstanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools is desirableExcellent communication and documentation skills; able to explain database concepts to non-technical stakeholdersAnalytical thinker with a commitment to best practices, quality, and continuous improvementWHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
