Database Administrator, Data Platform Management, Grocery Management Tech
Description The Data Platform Management team within Amazon Worldwide Grocery Store Tech is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to architect and implement scalable database solutions using AWS services. The ideal candidate will join our data platform management team and help drive our database strategy. We are looking for a talented AWS experienced Database Administrator that is passionate about data management, replication, and data stores of all kinds. Key job responsibilities - Design and implement robust database solutions across multiple platforms. - Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity. - Manage and optimize replication and backup strategies. - Create and maintain database documentation. - Collaborate with development teams on data architecture. - Troubleshoot complex database issues. - Create and optimize database maintenance and operational procedures. - Develop automation solutions for database operations and monitoring. - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response. - A forward-looking attitude that keeps you aware of the latest in database and data engineering technologies. - Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. A day in the life - Attend to any issues related to Databases. - Review and assess existing RDS implementation and recommend right sizing of each databases based on usage. - Collaborate with app owners to right size the RDS environments to reduce the spend. - Implement IAM role based authentication to DB access. - Develop and deploy automated deployment and maintenance procedures. - Implement robust backup and recovery solutions - Periodically Manage database security and access controls. - Create and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems. About the team The Data Platform Management team is part of the Amazon World Wide Grocery Management Tech org. We are a centralized team that supports database and data analytics solutions for Grocery Tech ensuring business continuity, frugality, InfoSec and Privacy compliance, and deliver data solutions to enable business. Basic Qualifications - Experience in managing or implementing system health, performance monitoring, capacity planning, or process improvement and automation - Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems, or experience leading and influencing your team or organization - 4+ years of database administration experience, or Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent - Experience debugging and systems analysis to identify and quickly resolve or mitigate issues - Experience in one or more of the following domains: access- control system and methodology, network security, application- and system-development security, security architecture and models, cryptography, and operations security - Experience with Cloud platforms (preferably AWS), database systems (SQL and NoSQL), AI tools for development productivity, contributing to open-source projects, and/or version control systems - Experience educating others on maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, and infrastructure of team systems. Preferred Qualifications - Experience leading and influencing your team or organization, or experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Experience in operational excellence, security compliance, and distributed systems resiliency - AWS Associate level certification, or AWS Professional level certification - Knowledge of AWS database migration software and technologies (DMS, SCT) - Experience with performance tuning and optimization of database systems Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $99,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
