About the job   

 

The Corporate Operations & Planning (CO&P) division at SAS plays a vital role in defining and aligning the organization with its top strategic and operational priorities, ensuring clarity, accountability, and enterprise-wide cohesion. CO&P addresses four critical challenges for SAS: ensuring the right strategy, enabling better decisions, improving operational effectiveness, and strengthening our competitive advantage. 

 

Within CO&P, the Corporate Analytics & Decision Support (CADS) team provides the analytical rigor and performance insights necessary to drive executive decision-making and long-term business success. As a Data Scientist on the CADS team, you will serve as a strategic individual contributor, working in a high-impact team that elevates enterprise analytics at SAS. This position is instrumental in enabling trusted analytics and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the organization. 

 

As a Data Scientist, Corporate Analytics & Decision Support you will:   

 

Partner with the team to develop and drive the analytical agenda that supports SAS’s strategy, corporate planning, and enterprise performance management. Own the end‑to‑end delivery of enterprise analyses and high‑impact corporate insights, ensuring cross‑divisional and cross‑functional alignment. Define and advance analytical strategy, frameworks, and standards that strengthen enterprise decision‑making. Ensure SAS’s most critical decisions are informed by trusted, high‑quality analytics and forward‑looking insights. Strengthen the company’s operating rhythm and performance management capabilities by building clear decision frameworks that guide prioritization, investment, and trade‑off analysis. Synthesize complex analyses into concise, actionable recommendations for senior and executive leadership. Anticipate emerging trends and performance risks, proactively surfacing insights before they become formal requests. Lead analytical workstreams by setting direction, scoping projects, and coordinating contributors to deliver cohesive, high‑quality outcomes. Leverage the SAS Viya platform (including SAS Studio, SAS Data Explorer, Visual Analytics, and SAS Environment Manager) and GitLab to conduct advanced analytics. Contribute to the enterprise analytical roadmap supporting corporate strategy, performance measurement, and decision support. Establish and promote standards for model design, forecasting, scenario analysis, data quality validation, and insight generation. Identify and implement opportunities to automate, streamline, and modernize enterprise reporting and modeling processes. Partner with business and data owners, CIS, and cross‑functional teams to strengthen data governance, harmonize definitions, improve data quality, and streamline data flows. Design, maintain, and enhance enterprise dashboards and reports aligned to strategic priorities. Provide analytical support for annual corporate planning, strategic initiatives, and investment decisions, including scenario and sensitivity analysis. Partner with the PMO and Corporate Development to deliver insights that strengthen strategic initiative execution. Serve as a trusted advisor by communicating insights with clarity, confidence, and business relevance through executive‑level presentations and forums. Represent the team in cross‑department meetings, enterprise forums, and steering groups to elevate the visibility and impact of CO&P analytics.Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals. Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. Required qualifications 

Masters degree in a field that includes strong coverage of applied mathematics and statistics, computer science, or engineering.Minimum 5 years of experience engineering data and creating data products such as BI reporting, dashboards, and data modelsProven track record of collaborating with business stakeholders and technical experts to deliver outcomes. Strong proficiency with analytical tools such as SAS, Python, R, SQL, or equivalent. Effective communication skills, especially with senior leaders and nontechnical audiences. Proven ability to manage high visibility deliverables in a dynamic environment. Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
