Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for responding to inbound and outbound calls to customers while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity. This role involves direct in-person and phone-based customer interaction to answer and resolve a wide variety of inquiries, including questions related to pharmacy services, delivery inquiries, refill calls, and pharmacy assistance calls. The technician also addresses inquiries regarding products and services and helps resolve any customer complaints. Responsibilities include receiving and processing new pharmacy referrals, verifying insurance coverage, facilitating prior authorization requests, accurately transcribing prescriptions, generating reports, coordinating delivery, and serving as the first point of contact for service-related inquiries.
Responsibilities
Respond to inbound and outbound customer calls, ensuring a high level of customer service.Answer questions related to pharmacy services and delivery inquiries.Complete refill and pharmacy assistance calls.Provide information and resolve customer complaints regarding products and services.Receive and process new pharmacy referrals and verify insurance coverage.Facilitate prior authorization requests and accurately transcribe prescriptions.Generate reports following the cycle fill calendar and coordinate delivery.Serve as the first point of contact for service-related inquiries.Edit fill list verification, including insurance information, last fill date, billing, and more.Coordinate the initiation of care with patients/caregivers, referral sources, and other providers.Enter patient information into records accurately and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations.Essential Skills
Pharmacy technician certification.Strong data entry and typing skills.Bilingual in English and Spanish.Completion of a board-approved pharmacy technician training program.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Access.2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician.Strong commitment to teamwork and flexibility.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Time management skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.Valid Florida Pharmacy Technician License required.DME experience preferred.Telephonic customer service experience preferred.Prior authorization experience preferred.Willingness to learn new computer software.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Punctuality and teamwork.Work Environment
The position is 100% onsite in a Specialty pharmacy attached to a community clinic, working in a team environment with four technicians and one pharmacist. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday, with Fridays from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, including a one-hour unpaid lunch. The environment involves a high volume of filling, handling 100-150 scripts per pharmacy team per day, supporting four local pharmacies. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
