Billing Data Entry Specialist

Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Location: Fully Remote

Work Environment Requirement: Must have a quiet, private workspace to ensure confidentiality of patient-related information.

Position Overview

The Billing Data Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering patient demographics, insurance details, and diagnosis codes into the Billing Information System. This ensures timely and correct claim submissions for lab service reimbursements. The role involves close collaboration with teams such as Specimen Processing, Customer Care, and Billing.

Key ResponsibilitiesReview paperwork accompanying patient specimens.Enter patient demographics, guarantor information (patient, third-party, client), and diagnosis codes into the billing system.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance carrier and third-party billing requirements.Identify and flag accessions missing required billing information.Troubleshoot and resolve flagged accessions using client/patient/database resources.Assist with scanning paperwork into the image database.Communicate effectively with coworkers to ensure daily tasks are completed.Follow regulatory guidelines to protect Protected Health Information (PHI).Escalate issues impacting production or patient/customer experience to Supervisors.QualificationsStrong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.Ability to work independently in a remote setting.Familiarity with medical billing and insurance processes is preferred.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
