GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE: The Data Defense Consultant will play a critical role in advancing Aon's cyber data defense posture by supporting and coordinating the implementation of enterprise data protection initiatives. This role will partner closely with technology, data governance, and business stakeholders to ensure consistent application of data defense controls, including data classification, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), data retention and destruction, and related technologies. This role will be required to translate technical and business objectives. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Support multiple data defense workstreams, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity and data governance strategies. Partner with technology and business leaders and technical teams to operationalize DLP,data classification, and other data governance processes. Serve as a liaison between Data Defense Engineering, compliance, and business areas to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented. Contribute to the development and rollout of policies, standards, and training that reinforce responsible data handling. Support technical solution evaluations and deployments. Provide input to track progress and metrics for ongoing initiatives. Assist in data defense documentation for policies and procedures. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Familiarity with DLP, data classification, and data lifecycle management tools and concepts. Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge business and technical stakeholders. Experience supporting large-scale technology or data governance initiatives within global organizations. Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001. Demonstrated ability to drive work independently while coordinating across teams and functions. Preferred Qualifications Detail-oriented, analytical thinker who can align strategic goals with technical execution. Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable operating in evolving environments.
