**Job Summary**
**The Data Architect** will report to the Technical Team Lead within the University of Utah Health System Insights Center. This role owns core production datasets that enable reporting, analytics, and ad-hoc analysis across the organization. Responsibilities include designing, building and maintaining data structures and refresh processes to ensure reliability, quality, and performance. This role will monitor and troubleshoot datasets, proactively address break-fix issues, and help reduce backlog through reusable, shared assets. Success in this role is measured by improved analyst throughput, reduced duplication of effort, and increased reuse of standardized datasets.
The ideal candidate will apply organizational data standards directly in production datasets, contribute documentation that enables consistent interpretation, and provide clarity for downstream users. This role collaborates closely with Solution Analysts, EDW architects/engineers, and other technical teams to leverage existing data assets and institutional knowledge. Through well-maintained datasets, consistent definitions, and accessible documentation, the Data Architect increases self-service capabilities and enables analysts to do higher-value work with less friction.
