Yes County New York Street Address 199 Church Street City New York State NY Zip Code 10007 Duties Description The Division of Confidential Investigations (DCI) is among the most active special investigations units in the country. The Data Analytics and Case Development Team proactively develops fraud investigations and provides analytical support to DCI and other NYSIF divisions. Reporting to a Supervising Data Analyst, Data Analyst 1 supports investigative activities by analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, anomalies, and indicators of potential fraud. This position focuses on applying analytical techniques, preparing reports, and assisting with case development under established guidelines and supervisory direction. The incumbent is expected not only to complete assigned analytical tasks accurately and timely, but also to demonstrate analytical curiosity by identifying additional questions or data considerations and bringing them to supervisory staff for review. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Use structured query language (SQL) to query relational databases, extract data, and generate tables for analysis and reporting• Assist with gathering, organizing, reviewing, and redacting discovery materials in support of DCI investigations and prosecutions, in accordance with established procedures and confidentiality requirements• Support case preparation activities by ensuring analytical materials are complete, accurate, and properly documented• Assist in evaluating existing data analysis processes, methodologies, and tools, and suggest improvements to supervisors to enhance efficiency and accuracy• Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to data analytics, investigative support, and agency systems Minimum Qualifications • Four years of experience* in data visualization, statistical models and data mining tools and satisfactory completion of a two-year traineeship; OR • Six years of experience* in data visualization, statistical models and data mining tools* Substitutions: An associate’s degree may substitute for two years of general experience; or a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of general experience. A master’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for one year of general experience; or a Ph.D. in these fields may substitute for two years of general experience.Preferred Qualifications: • Academic, internship, or entry-level experience involving data analysis, auditing, compliance, or investigative support• Familiarity with data visualization or link analysis tools• Exposure to insurance, finance, healthcare, or government datasets• Coursework or experience related to fraud examination, criminal justice, or policy administrationPlease be advised that the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) does not offer sponsorship for employment visas to employees or potential employees.
