Dairy Department Lead

All Purpose Clerk - Dairy Lead

Position Summary:
The Dairy Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dairy department, ensuring product quality, freshness, and compliance with food safety standards. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, managing inventory, and leading a team to achieve departmental goals.

Main Responsibilities:

Ensure all dairy products are fresh, properly rotated, and displayed according to company standards. Maintain accurate inventory levels and manage ordering to minimize waste and maximize profitability. Train, supervise, and schedule dairy department staff to ensure efficient operations. Monitor compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations. Develop and implement merchandising strategies to increase sales and customer satisfaction. Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally. Conduct regular audits of product quality and department cleanliness. Collaborate with store management on promotions and seasonal displays.

Understanding of dairy products and storage requirements Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards Basic knowledge of retail financial metrics

Abilities:

Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. Stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods Operate department equipment safely and efficiently

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Travel Requirements:

Minimal; occasional travel for training or meetings

Other Requirements:

Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Previous experience in grocery retail and/ or perishable department(s) preferred

Pay transparency language:

The pay range is $17.25 to $21.00 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
