Aerotek is seeking Fabrication Technicians for the New Orleans area:

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating structural, mechanical, and electrical components in accordance with engineering drawings and CAD models. You will also interpret 2D drawings and 3D models to layout, machine, assemble, wire, and test parts and subassemblies. The position involves using hand and power tools, precision measuring equipment, and performing soldering, crimping, and wiring as required.

ResponsibilitiesFabricate structural, mechanical, and electrical components per engineering drawings and CAD models.Interpret 2D drawings and 3D models to layout, machine, assemble, wire, and test parts and subassemblies.Use hand and power tools, precision measuring equipment, and fabrication equipment.Perform soldering, crimping, and wiring as required.Set up and operate machines for welding, sheet metal fabrication, and extrusion tube bending.Perform composite lay-up fabrication and assembly tasks.Assemble and install wire harnesses and avionics products.Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for various tests.Apply routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements.Work in a Safety/FOD sensitive environment with components of varying precision cleanliness levels.Build and validate prototypes and small production runs, perform fit checks and functional tests.Maintain part and process documentation, follow quality and safety procedures, and log test/assembly results.Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project leads to resolve design or manufacturability issues.Essential SkillsMechanically inclined with strong hands-on aptitude for tools, fixtures, and mechanical systems.Competent in CAD literacy to review and interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.Relevant mechanical or electrical experience in a FOD sensitive environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsFormer or current military experience with familiarity in military standards and procedures.3 years of fabrication or assembly experience in metalwork, wiring/ECU integration, or mechanical assembly.Proven team player with strong communication skills and experience in fast-paced collaborative project teams.High school diploma or GED with typically 1 or more years of related experience.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This position is based at the Michould Assembly Facility, with the primary shift being the 1st shift starting at 6:00 AM and ending at 2:30 PM. The role requires working onsite at a military base, in a controlled work area with components of varying precision cleanliness levels. The work involves handling sensitive electronic devices or avionics sensors and other instrumentation. The dress code is casual and safety-oriented.

This is a Contract position based out of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
