Job Title: Cytotechnologist - Per Diem
Department: Cytology                     
Location: Rochester General Hospital                          
Hours Per Week: As Scheduled
Schedule:  Monday - Friday; Days 8am to 430pm                       
           
SUMMARY:
As a Cytotechnologist, your developed examination and evaluation skills are key factors in identifying disease in gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides, leading to critical discovery for patient care.  
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specimen & Equipment Management. Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens by microscope; document results on worksheets and in the laboratory information system; assist with fine needle aspirations, specimen preparation and staining; maintain cytology workload records Leadership. Make suggestions to improve work methods and efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems; promote and support a positive team environment; participate in the planning and accomplishment of goals and objectivesGeneral Maintenance. Perform and document routine maintenance on microscope(s) and quality control rescreening if qualified
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Cytotechnologist.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Cytotechnology or BS in a related SciencePrevious experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory a benefitCertification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
