Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position.The Customer Engagement Manager will lead the marketing strategy and planning, execution, and optimization of Dollar Tree’s owned digital marketing channels—including web and app content planning, email marketing, app messaging, SMS, and web push notifications.
This role is accountable for driving both online and in-store traffic and revenue by leveraging targeted, promotional, lifecycle, and personalized marketing strategies. The ideal candidate will activate omnichannel campaigns across web and app platforms to acquire, retain, and re-engage customers.
A critical focus will be on managing and scaling the email marketing program, ensuring timely, relevant, and data-driven communications that support seasonal priorities, promotions, and loyalty initiatives. The role will also support eCommerce business partners by aligning marketing efforts to drive digital transactions and through third-party marketplaces and delivery platforms, such as Uber and Instacart.
Additional responsibilities include developing and optimizing customer contact strategies, enhancing the digital experience across key site and app pages (e.g., homepage, category landing pages, product detail pages), and improving engagement, conversion, and retention. This role will own developing the innovation roadmaps and capex requests for all owned digital marketing channel improvements taking into account retail trends and our capabilities vs. the rest of the industry.
The ideal candidate is a motivated and well-organized digital leader with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. They should be comfortable managing a team and collaborating cross-functionally with merchandising, marketing, creative, eCommerce, web development, product management, and external agency partners to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importanceLead the strategy, planning, execution, and optimization of Dollar Tree’s owned digital marketing channels, including email, app messaging, SMS, web push, and in-app/web content.Manage and scale the Dollar Tree email marketing program, including promotional, lifecycle, transactional, and trigger-based emails to drive engagement, retention, and revenue.Oversee app messaging, push notification, and SMS strategies with a focus on list growth, segmentation, personalization, and performance optimization.Support Dollar Tree’s eCommerce business partners by aligning digital marketing efforts to drive incremental online sales and engagement through third-party delivery platforms.Develop and execute omnichannel content strategies across the Dollar Tree website and mobile app, including homepage, category landing pages, and product detail pages.Drive A/B testing and personalization strategies across Dollar Tree’s digital platforms to improve KPIs such as revenue, conversion, bounce rate, and customer engagement.Partner cross-functionally with merchandising, brand marketing, creative, product management, and external agencies to execute seasonal and promotional campaigns.Lead a team of two responsible for content planning and channel execution, providing clear direction, mentorship, and performance feedback.Ensure cohesive brand storytelling and campaign integration across Dollar Tree’s web, app, and addressable marketing channels.Own the development of the addressable media tactic innovation pipeline and capex requests taking into account both industry parity and superiority. Identify and test new addressable marketing channels and tactics that deliver innovation and customer growth.Monitor and report on channel performance, sharing actionable insights and recommendations to inform future strategies.Maintain channel health through best practices in list hygiene, deliverability, and platform optimization.Act as a thought leader by identifying and sharing industry trends, emerging technologies, and digital experience enhancements that drive competitive advantage.Improve our customer reach and engagement across all addressable media tactics while also comparing against best in class industry benchmarks. Be in touch with industry trends and customer needs/wants.Manage intake, prioritization, and execution of digital content requests while balancing strategic marketing objectives. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.BA/BS. MBA preferred.Experience: +5 years of relevant Digital Marketing experience, ideally in Retail and/or CPG or Agency.Strong leadership abilities, experience supporting and mentoring team membersProven analytical abilities with strategic thought processes and reporting skillsStrong critical thinking skills and high sense of urgencyAbility to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlinesExcellent communication skills at all levels of management Strong presentation skills with ability to gain alignment on recommendationsAbility to learn digital platforms and/or new technology as implementedProficiency in Google Analytics, and Google Adwords Proficiency in A/B testing and personalization strategiesTechnical Skills: Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications, inclusive of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
