Job Summary
The Custodian I Day Porter is an in-person position that provides custodial services for events and classes. This person works closely with the Facilities Operations Call Center to provide cleaning, supply refills, and other custodial services.
Custodial duties are performed by using our team cleaning system, including the use of a 13-20 pound backpack vacuum. The basic custodial duties include cleaning restrooms, picking up debris on floors, cleaning all areas before, during, and after events.
Custodial staff are considered critical employees which means, in the event of a University of Michigan-Dearborn emergency reduction in operations, including a public health emergency, suspension of academic classes, or during weather-related reductions in operations, the Manager of Building Services has designated this position as critical.
RELATED DUTIES
Maintain all custodial equipment and closets.Move and arrange furniture and furnishings.Rearrange / reset classrooms as required.Safely apply cleaning chemicals.Snow removal.Fill supply orders and restock closets.Required Qualifications*Graduation from high school or GED is necessaryMinimum of two (2) years custodial working experience.Ability to lift to 50 pounds.Ability to lift, bend, and be on your feet for several hours at a time.Must be able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English.Work ScheduleThis position is 40 hours per week / Days / Monday - Friday / In-person, schedule may be adjusted accordingly, as needed.

Additional InformationThe pay will follow the AFSCME contract pay grade: probation period $19.09 and $20.15 after a successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.
