Cricket Wireless Lead Software Engineering

Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Private/Public Cloud System Administrator to join the Cricket IT OPs organization. This role focuses on driving technology transformation through public cloud migrations while supporting mission-critical applications such as POS and Customer Journey. The ideal candidate will proactively monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and perform fault analysis and logging for performance exception reporting.

As part of a dynamic, cross-functional DevOps team, you will contribute to our hyper-cloud strategy, enabling scalable and resilient application solutions. You will also manage infrastructure automation tasks, including VM creation, load balancers, and networking configurations. This position requires deep expertise in networking, storage, firewalls, and connectivity, serving as a subject matter expert (SME) during incident triages and troubleshooting to ensure minimal business downtime.​

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software solutions while ensuring efficient delivery processes and robust production support. Emphasis is placed on automation and adherence to industry best practices.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Design, Development, and Coding:

Design and code software applications using multiple programming languages, applying established development methodologies.Software Engineers are expected to both design and code applications as a fundamental responsibility.

Automation and Infrastructure Management:

Develop automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, and Terraform to manage infrastructure efficiently.Manage and configure infrastructure components such as Virtual Machines (VMs), Load Balancers (LBs), and networking settings.Demonstrate hands-on expertise with advanced technologies including NGINX, Solace, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.Possess in-depth knowledge to effectively operate and troubleshoot complex systems and infrastructure.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with teams to gather and review software requirements, provide estimates, and create design specifications.Work closely with engineers and architects to evaluate hardware and software interactions and ensure seamless integration.

Testing and Debugging:

Develop and execute automated test plans, validate test environments and data, and implement code fixes.Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in troubleshooting and rapidly resolving issues within highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems.

Maintenance and Support:

Troubleshoot and resolve application configuration and environment-related issues.Provide expert support and administration for:NGINX, Solace, IBM SFG, Connect Direct, and Data RouterTCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, and firewall configurationsContainer orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon EKSAutomation scripting with Bash and PowerShellMonitoring and logging tools such as ELK Stack, Dynatrace, Foglight, Prometheus, and Azure Log AnalyticsRed Hat Linux system installation, configuration, and user managementStorage management with Logical Volume Manager (LVM)Databases including Cassandra (CQL), MongoDB, and Cosmos DBManage data consistency across multiple data centers.Focus on performance optimization, maintenance, and production support of distributed systems.Apply knowledge of cloud security policies and operational best practices.

Deployment:

Facilitate and support software deployments adhering to DevOps principles such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), infrastructure as code, and automated testing.Bring both technical expertise and cultural understanding of DevOps practices.

Job Contribution:
This role demands an experienced professional recognized as an expert who can creatively resolve complex technical challenges. The individual leads critical projects with strategic autonomy, influences executive decisions, mentoring junior staff, and collaborates frequently with senior leadership. This position operates independently without direct supervision.

Preferred Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 8 years of professional experience combining security domain expertise with deep knowledge in both on-premises and public cloud environments.Strong IT skills to protect systems from external threats, secure APIs, and resolve compliance issues related to cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

Preferred Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) are advantageous.Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud system administration, DevOps, or related roles.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science. 5+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.

Our Lead Software Engineering earns between $128,400 - $192,600 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
