Overview

As a Credit Balance Specialist, you'll accurately review account credit balances to determine appropriate steps to resolve. You'll also review payment postings, adjustments, and charges to appropriately issue refunds.

Responsibilities Accurately reviews outstanding insurance and patient credit balances to determine appropriate party to refundResponsibilities will include accurately posting payments, adjustments and refunds as necessaryReviews transactions (payments and adjustments) from various sources on a daily basis.  Payments sources include Electronic Remittances, paper checks and EOB’s, patients, collection agency, capitation plans, Care Credit and Patient PortalAdheres closely to the department’s payment reconciliation processPrioritizes work to maximize turn-around timeMeets or exceeds productivity standards in the completion of daily assignments and accurate productionMaintain an error rate in accordance with departmental policyMakes changes to demographic information as necessary in order to produce a clean patient statementAnswer and respond to external and internal phone calls in a timely mannerCheck and respond to emails in a timely and professional mannerPerforms all other assigned duties Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent3+ years medical billing experienceOphthalmology background desiredActive knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines and coding policiesDemonstrates computer literacyWell-organized with attention to detailAbility to read and understand oral and written instructionsExcellent math skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationship with team members, clinic staff, payers and patientsProfessional customer service skillsHas a desire and dedication to work with self-disciplineAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationship with team members, clinic staff, payers and patientsProfessional customer services skills Benefits & Perks
