About the Credit Analyst Role
Are you a numbers person who loves to see the "big picture" behind a balance sheet? Trustco Bank is searching for a Credit Analyst to join our elite Credit Administration team. In this role, you aren’t just looking at data; you are a financial detective, uncovering the stories told by tax returns, industrial benchmarks, and credit reports to protect the bank's assets and empower our clients.
As a Credit Analyst, you serve as the primary architect of our credit approval packages. You will deep-dive into complex corporate and personal financial data to determine the heartbeat of a loan's risk level. Your insights and narratives will directly influence our lending decisions, ensuring that every dollar we lend is backed by sound logic and meticulous research.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Deep-Dive: Analyze and interpret a vast array of data—from corporate tax returns and AR aging to appraisals and collateral evaluations—to establish creditworthiness.Industrial Benchmarking: Conduct high-level research on industry trends to identify external risks that could impact a borrower’s ability to thrive and repay.Narrative Excellence: Write the "story" of the credit. You will prepare detailed written narratives that outline performance trends, identify strengths and weaknesses, and make formal recommendations for risk ratings.Portfolio Health: Perform internal loan reviews on existing credits, "stress testing" current files to ensure our borrowers maintain the capacity to succeed in today’s evolving economy.Fiduciary Stewardship: Handle highly sensitive operational and financial information with the ultimate level of discretion and ethical integrity.Strategic Collaboration: Work alongside the Quality Assurance team to ensure all credit packages are airtight and compliant with 2025 consumer compliance laws.This job description is not exhaustive; duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Analytical Powerhouse: You have a "detective" mindset and a passion for financial spreading and underwriting.Knowledge & Expertise: You possess a broad-based understanding of credit administration and the lending lifecycle.Elite Communication: You can take complex financial data and turn it into a clear, persuasive, and professional written narrative.Tech Mastery: You are a power user of Microsoft Excel and specialized banking software, using them to create sophisticated financial portfolios.A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.At least three (3) years of dedicated credit analysis and underwriting experience.Preferred
A Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
Schedule
Full-time position. Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Physical Demands:
Primarily sedentary; includes use of standard office equipment.
