Credentialing Specialist
Job Title: Credentialing Analyst

Job Description

The Credentialing Analyst is responsible for reviewing initial and reappointment credentialing applications to ensure completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role involves conducting primary source verification, validating documentation to meet stringent credentialing standards, and identifying discrepancies that may impact provider enrollment.

Responsibilities

Review initial and reappointment credentialing applications for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.Conduct primary source verification and validate documentation to meet credentialing standards.Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in credentialing applications; escalate concerns to the Credentialing Manager.Monitor and maintain credentialing files to ensure compliance with quality standards and accreditation requirements.Submit provider rosters to health plans accurately and in a timely manner.Follow up and update provider data in the credentialing database for precision and consistency.Prepare and track verification requests to support high-volume application processing.Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to provide credentialing-related information.Resolve pending action items in the EHR system.Support audit readiness and contribute to financial reporting accuracy through credentialing documentation.Perform additional duties as assigned to support the accounting and finance team.

Essential Skills

Experience with CAQH.Familiarity with credentialing software such as MDStaff and IntelliSoft.Familiarity with PECOS (Medicare database) and EPREP (MD Medicaid portal/database).Strong understanding of healthcare, customer service, and medical terminology.High School Diploma or GED required.3+ years of experience in healthcare provider credentialing and recredentialing.Proficient with CAQH and Medicare’s PECOS database.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification preferred or actively pursuing certification.Extensive experience using EMR/EHR systems.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and adapt to ambiguity with innovative problem-solving.

Work Environment

The position is based on-site in Bethesda, MD, five days a week, with a start time of 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM. The work environment supports diversity and inclusion, fostering an employee-centered culture that encourages professional growth and team-driven success.

This is a Contract position based out of Bethesda, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
