Crane Operator
**Job Title: Crane Operator** **Job Description** We are currently seeking a Crane Operator for a first-shift position, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating cranes, specifically overhead cranes, and will be responsible for lifting metal coils. Experience with handling products that have some level of 'swing' is preferred. **Responsibilities** + Operate the overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads such as materials, equipment, or machinery. + Inspect the crane daily and report any issues, defects, or malfunctions immediately to management or maintenance. + Coordinate with management and machine operators on materials needed for daily work orders. + Maintain excellent communication skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. + Perform housekeeping and cleanup of the work area. + Demonstrate great organizational skills to keep coils, sheets, paperwork, and the overall warehouse clean, safe, and properly organized. + Wear all proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel toe boots, hard hat, gloves, ear plugs, and safety glasses. + Ensure the safety of the warehouse by setting crane hooks properly for each coil and ensuring all coils are properly chocked and chained. + Verify the accuracy of all outgoing shipments and incoming deliveries. + Receive and unload coils from inbound trucks and via the coil transfer cart in the rear of the warehouse. + Maintain proper inventory of all coils, including ensuring all tags are placed properly and coils are staged properly according to their width. + Scan inventory tags on a daily basis. + Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed. **Essential Skills** + Experience with overhead crane operation. + Proficiency in machine operation and material handling. + Great manual dexterity, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and fast reaction time. + Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. + Capability to use and read a tape measure and micrometer. + Ability to withstand temperature changes due to different seasons. + Competence in using a wireless remote to maneuver the overhead crane. + Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours in various weather conditions. **Why Work Here?** This position offers lots of opportunities for overtime and we are willing to provide training to the right candidate. Additional overtime is available upon request. The work environment is non-climate controlled in an industrial steel manufacturing setting. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camden, NJ. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
