Role Summary:

The Cost Accounting Supervisor is primarily responsible for leading a team of senior accountants and is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of financial information and maintaining an effective control environment.  This position will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financial and accounting processes in our ERP systems, financial data management, monthly GL close processes for areas of responsibility, ASC606 compliance as well as SOX control compliance.

The Cost Accounting Supervisor is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of financial information and maintaining an effective control environment at their reporting units.

Principal Accountabilities:

Supervise team of senior accounting personnel located in Houston, TXProvide support to Regional Accounting Manager and site Business PartnersBe a key liaison with Business Support Center teams, reviewing outputs and accounting while answering and addressing issuesPerform trial balance and internal financials reviewSupport Finance and company-wide initiatives to improve efficiency and effectivenessEnsure internal controls are properly designed and operating effectivelyASC606 complianceReview and approve journal entries (including topside journals, if any), account reconciliations, and key control tasks for direct reportsPrepare and provide monthly financial reports to managementComplete all other assigned daily, monthly, quarterly and annual tasksSupport internal and external audit processes ensuring requests are fulfilled timely and questions are properly resolvedProvide constructive and meaningful feedback to team members on a regular basis on their individual performance & complete annual performance process as per company requirementsConstantly support team in their professional development; initiate and oversee a performance improvement plan if necessaryProvide regular feedback to direct reports and manage their career progressionPlan and assign tasks and activities to direct reports, ensuring work is appropriately distributed and all deadlines can be met

Compliance:

Ensures compliance with Flowserve policies, US GAAP, SOX and local statutory laws and regulations and that business is conducted within Flowserve's ethical code of business conduct

Quality and Timeliness of Accounting/Reporting:

Ensure that all financial data is accurate, complete and submitted in accordance with Flowserve’s timetablesWhere required, ensures that local statutory returns, secretarial matters and other fiduciary matters are efficiently dealt with

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting requiredStrong financial background with 5 or more years of relevant experiencePercentage of Completion (POC) accounting experience preferredExperience in a supervisory role and/or manager experiencePossess a strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controlsKnowledge of ASC 606Ability to work with minimal direction, possess problem solving skills, and self-motivatedExcellent analytical abilities, communication and strong interpersonal skillsAbility to interact with associates and leaders throughout the organizationExcellent PC skills including Microsoft Office products

Preferred:

Experience in a manufacturing environment preferredExperience with Syteline, Blackline, BPC and/or SAP a plus
