Cost Accountant

Jefferson Wells is partnering with one of our clients in the northwestern Chicago suburbs to identify Cost Accounting consultants for interim engagements starting immediately. The cost accountants will serve as a key liaison between plant operations and corporate finance, focusing on cost analysis, reporting, and process improvement.
Hourly pay: $45-70 W2 depending on level of experience
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Act as the primary finance contact for cost accounting matters across designated plant(s)
+ Analyze material and production cost variances
+ Maintain and update standard costs to ensure accurate financial reporting
+ Prepare monthly financial summaries comparing actuals to forecasts and prior year data
+ Conduct variance analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies
+ Provide input and support for the annual budgeting cycle, including standard cost updates
+ Assist with month-end close activities, including commodity pricing updates
+ Review and approve new item setups, including BOMs, routings, and cost structures
+ Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting requests from senior leadership
**Qualifications:**
+ Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
+ Strong analytical and communication skills
+ Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
