Corrosion Engineer - Pipeline & Facilities
Responsible for performing basic to complex corrosion engineering and cathodic protection design on a variety of engineering tasks with moderate to limited supervision.Operates as a member of a team on multiple small to large-sized projects with a basic to intermediate level of technical difficulty.Assists in developing technical drawing details, including site plans, typical details, bill of materials, equipment schedules, and other drawing-related tasks.Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, and associated documents with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of cathodic protection and AC mitigation facilities/systems.Applying technical standards and procedures consistent with the task performed.Following a system of quality control and checking on all projects assigned.Maintaining a collaborative spirit in working with other teams and global practices within the company .Perform corrosion field surveys and troubleshooting at client sites; work may require travel (15% of the time), extended periods in outdoor or industrial environments, and the ability to perform job-related physical activities such as walking and carrying equipment.Review and edit engineering reports; consult field staff on revisions to analyses or modifications to system designs as appropriate. Review charts, tables, calculations, and related data gathered.Perform economic evaluations of alternative methods of cathodic protection and corrosion control. Assist in cost estimation and detailed proposal development.Strong oral and written communication skills. Act as a direct interface with the client when required. Correspond and communicate verbally with clients in a professional manner. Interacting with clients in an independent manner.Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and through interaction and communication with project leadership.Applies understanding of client interests and drivers to their own behavior and performance of the work under his/her responsibility.Lead the preparation of CP designs, specifying anode type, quantity, and location; rectifier location, test station locations and other design features on prepared drawings .Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches and engineering theory. Specifically in the area of Corrosion. Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.Must have the ability to work with complex spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software. Must have the ability to learn new applications quickly.Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information to individuals or groups (management, clients, customers, general public) and respond to questions.Must have the ability to perform arithmetic calculations and apply basic statistical, algebraic and geometric concepts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volumes, etc.Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists, and interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Perform tests required to determine the condition of soil, water, underground or submerged structures. Recognizing and responding to abnormal measurements or conditions.Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and empower, to be a strong communicator, able to take initiative and function independently.Mentor and train assistant-level engineers.Provide technical supervision and technical assistance to other teams and global practices within the company.
