Job Description
Monitor a conveyor while standing on ergonomic mats or seated on a stool to ensure all corn that passes through is viable. If corn looks discolored, rotten, or is a different crop, it should be pulled to the discard pile. If corn still has husk, it needs to be sent to re-work for de-husking. The work requires walking up and down stairs and standing for prolonged periods. The environment is not temperature-controlled and may be dusty due to corn and insecticides.
ResponsibilitiesAbide by safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while completing work on the property.Follow lock out/tag out, E-Stop, and other equipment safety processes.Maintain cleanliness of the work environment, sweeping and removing debris as required.Sort corn to maintain the quality of seed, identifying off-type ears and damaged corn.Sort discard/waste and re-husk corn as it passes on the conveyor belt, distributing to proper locations for next actions.Work from a standing or elevated seat position in front of a moving conveyor belt for the duration of the shift.Assist with kernel cleaning process when materials change.Report any accidents, near miss incidents, or safety violations, bringing issues or concerns to the attention of the team leader or supervisors.Participate in incident/accident investigations as necessary.Essential SkillsGeneral labor experienceProduction and sorting skillsAttention to quality and detailAdditional Skills & QualificationsAbility to abide by safety procedures and policiesExperience in maintaining cleanliness in work areasWillingness to work in a dusty environmentWhy Work Here?

Work Environment
Employees will perform a mix of seated and standing work in a sorting area that is not temperature-controlled and can be dusty with an agricultural smell. The dress code requires closed-toed shoes, work pants or jeans, and a t-shirt. The worksite is strictly tobacco-free, and employees are not permitted to leave during paid breaks, but can leave during their 30-minute lunch break.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
