Don't miss out on the opportunity to work alongside the world's best in paediatric healthcare. **Position Description** We seek a highly motivated and experienced Core Facility Manager to help lead the transformation and operations of the SPARC BioCentre Core Facility within the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Research Institute. SPARC BioCentre will lead innovation and discovery to support key pillars within the Precision Child Health, SickKids 2030 and SickKids Research strategies. The Manager will oversee day-to-day operations and the medium-term development of a multi-disciplinary core facility specializing in mass spectrometry (proteomics & metabolomics), protein design/engineering, high throughput drug screening, and omic data integration and analysis. The role combines scientific/technical leadership with people and relationship management, financial stewardship, quality & compliance, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the facility delivers reliable, innovative, and sustainable services to internal and external investigators. As Core Facility Manager, you will report directly to the Scientific Director. **Here's What You'll Get To Do** · Implement new innovative technologies and help procure instruments to ensure facility remains competitive, current, and relevant · Supervise and lead staff and help mentor academic trainees · Assist with the preparation of research proposals, presentations and manuscripts · Manage projects, budget, space, website, biosafety, and infrastructure service contracts and operations of SPARC BioCentre · Interact with peers in large-scale collaborative projects · Forecast and manage annual operating budget of ~$900K in conjunction with finance team and facility director, strategically allocate funds to immediate and longer-term research priorities · Consult in the design of experiments for investigator needs; perform experimental procedures and data analysis for academic and industrial clients and collaborators · Work with and advise senior administrators on CFI reporting, procurement of infrastructure, legal agreements, and invoicing · Promote facility services through participation in seminars, website management, one-on-one conversations · Equip clients with knowledge to assist with experimental design and data interpretation **Here's What You'll Need** · Proactive and structured communication of operational status, risks, and decision points to the Scientific Director and other senior stakeholders. · Demonstrated ability to anticipate leadership information needs, manage expectations, and provide concise, actionable input to support timely decision-making. · Expertise in protein biochemistry and/or mass spectrometry, automation and analytical workflows, omics data analysis including statistical and computational tools · Demonstrated publication record in protein biochemistry or molecular biology or proteomics or metabolomics · Experience supervising a staff of 5-10 researchers and technicians in a complex work environment · Ability to quickly adapt, delegate and multitask on changing workflows and projects · Ability to seek and assimilate new knowledge · Proven track record of successful interactions with multiple collaborators, peers and clients · Strong oral and written communication skills · Experience in the preparation of formal presentations, reports and manuscripts · Ability to manage complex budgets with multiple partners · Ability to deliver on complex project goals in a timely manner · A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives **Education required** · PhD in biochemistry, drug discovery, biophysics, or structural biology · A minimum of 15 years of academic or industry experience in biochemistry, drug discovery, biophysics, or structural biology **Employment Type** Full-Time Permanent, 1.0 FTE **Our Commitment to Diversity** SickKids is committed to championing equity, diversity and inclusion in all that we do, fostering an intentionally inclusive and culturally safe environment that reflects the diversity of the patients, families and communities we serve.
