**Job Title: Cook** Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Cook to accurately prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for different meal periods including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. This role involves working in a healthcare/retirement setting, providing high-quality food service while adhering to corporate and regulatory standards. Responsibilities + Prepare and cook to order foods that may require short preparation time. + May prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte station and operate a grill station. + Prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations. + Read food orders or receive verbal instructions and cook food accordingly. + Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times. + Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing and serving various foodstuffs. + Operate kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, prepare fruits, vegetables, and meats. + Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, and plan production requirements. + Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment, following all company rules and procedures. + Attend all allergy and foodborne illness training sessions. + Comply with all safety and risk management policies and procedures. + Participate in regular safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments. + Receive inventory, move, lift foodstuffs, and prepare meals for special diets. + Produce batch goods using basic cooking techniques. Essential Skills + Proficient in food preparation and cooking techniques. + Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. + Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards. + Excellent customer service skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with a la carte and grill station operations. + Ability to work under direct supervision using kitchen equipment. + Experience in healthcare or retirement community settings is a plus. Work Environment Work in a healthcare/retirement setting with a smoke-free campus. The schedule includes shifts from 5am-2pm, 8am-4:30pm, and 11am-7:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. The environment is generally indoors with a noise level that is moderate to loud, and may occasionally involve supervising outdoor activities and events. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
