Job Title: Controls Technician
Job Description
As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and assisting in the repair of electrical control systems, ensuring the safety and efficiency of all electrical systems.Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of all electrical systems.Work on AC and DC, single and multiple phase circuits.Coordinate with engineers and other technicians when working with devices and circuits.Perform cabling work for electronic equipment, computers, and telecommunications equipment.Connect wires to transformers and other components.Plan and generate the layout of electrical installations and wiring.Utilize working knowledge of single line diagrams and physical locations of sub-stations.Install, remove, repair, and adjust pneumatic and electrical instruments/actuators.Observe automation in operation and troubleshoot to locate root causes of trouble.Install, service, and maintain power circuits, including synchronization of their operation.Initiate purchase orders for required parts.Support predictive and preventative maintenance initiatives.Essential Skills
Troubleshooting electrical control systems.PLC programming and troubleshooting.Experience with HMI and VFD's.Working knowledge of automation and variable frequency drives.Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance & Construction, or related field preferred.5+ years of experience in industrial electrical and controls systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Advanced experience with Siemens PLC.Networking knowledge.Ability to troubleshoot, program, and debug AB & Siemens PLCs, HMIs, relay-based circuits, and networking.Ability to troubleshoot, replace, and program VFDs.Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing environment with varying noise levels and exposure to hot and cold environments. Shifts are rotating every 2 months between 6-2pm, 2-10pm, and 10-6am, but staying on an off shift is optional. Personal protective equipment may be required in certain areas.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $37.00 - $43.00/hr.
