Frito-Lay Canada has an opening at the Cambridge, Ontario facility for a Controls Specialist. We are seeking an ambitious and motivated technical specialist to join our dynamic reliability team, supporting the weekday night shift. The Controls Specialist role will be responsible for maintaining the controls and automation systems throughout our processing, packaging, and warehousing operations. This role will also be responsible for developing controls competence, programs, and procedures as you work closely with the reliability, capital projects, and operations team. Shift: Weekday Nights (4 days, 10pm-8am) Compensation: $56,700 - $92,400 Responsibilities Support the reliability team with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving equipment issues Support, coach, and develop electricians with controls related troubleshooting efforts in the field Develop sustainable practices for electricians to share information and speed up troubleshooting efforts Propose, develop, and execute projects that will increase equipment reliability Analyze production processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop control strategies to optimize efficiency, quality, and safety Work with Project Engineering team to ensure adequate support is available for integration projects Ensure Controls related work orders are scheduled and completed in a timely manner Highlight concerns with equipment and projects to Project Engineers, Reliability team, and Technical Managers Drive downtime performance through collaboration with reliability and operations teams Qualifications University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical/Software/Process Engineering or a related field Working knowledge of industrial control systems, process automation, instrumentation, and maintenance processes Analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team Attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality and reliable control system solutions Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC’s and Siemens S7 Proficiency in Aveva Wonderware and Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View HMI Software Solid understanding of motor control and VFD operations Understanding of Industrial Ethernet networks Understanding of server and network infrastructure to support IT/OT network and server room operations 1-3 + years’ Supervisory experience preferred Exceptional Verbal and Written Communication Skills Experience in Coaching and Monitoring Performance of Others – Take Others With You Able to Instruct and Teach Others Skills in Organizing, Planning and Prioritizing Work Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Capabilities Knowledge of General Regulatory & Safety Processes and Procedures PepsiCo may use Artificial Intelligence as part of its hiring process.
