This Controls Engineering Manager role, based in our Columbus, Ohio manufacturing plant, is responsible for managing a highly skilled team of Controls Engineers in support of manufacturing. The position oversees automation projects, ensures safety compliance, manages technical resources, and optimizes manufacturing processes for efficiency, while providing high-level troubleshooting for equipment failures. This work is performed in close partnership with Plant Operations, Maintenance, Operational Technology, and Quality.
What You’ll Work On
Evaluate project feasibility and prioritize automation and control initiativesProvide leadership, training, and performance evaluations for a team of engineers and techniciansOversee capital project execution, including financial justification, planning, design, programming, testing, and system commissioningDevelop and enforce machine safety control standards in compliance with industry regulationsEnsure adherence to safe work practices across the teamProvide oversight and guidance for validation activities to ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA regulations, and company quality standardsOffer expert guidance in electrical control development, maintenance, and troubleshooting for all manufacturing processesLead data-driven troubleshooting efforts to optimize key processes and decision-makingManage industrial communication protocols and maintain physical industrial networksProvide technical insights on capital projects and process developmentApply advanced expertise to machine qualification processes at supplier sites and in-houseMaintain accurate documentation of machine software and version updates to prevent production disruptionsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering5+ years of experience in manufacturing support with expertise in Electrical, Electronic, and Industrial Controls, including PLC troubleshooting & debugging and various control platforms and softwareStrong proficiency in Rockwell software (Studio5000, RSLogix500, FactoryTalk)Expertise in Rockwell Kinetix motion control systemsFamiliarity with data collection and analysis tools such as AVEVA PI, PTC Kepware Server, Seeq Industrial Analytics, and ZPI Monitor & ReportComprehensive knowledge of relevant electrical standards and codes (NFPA, UL, NEMA, ISA, IEEE, etc.)Solid understanding of electrical safety and industrial power distributionExperience with control networks including DeviceNet, ControlNet, Remote IO, Data Highway Plus, IO-Link, and Ethernet/IPAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writingWorking knowledge of electrical schematic development & design using AutoCADStrong multitasking skills, ability to manage multiple projects, draft project documentation, and oversee contractorsAvailability to provide support during off-hours for troubleshooting manufacturing equipmentPreferred Qualifications

The base pay for this position is $86,700.00 – $173,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
