The Controls Engineer is responsible for validating, correcting, and optimizing SCADA and EPMS systems during commissioning and post-deployment phases. This role requires hands-on experience in making corrections within SCADA platforms, troubleshooting system behavior, and ensuring solutions meet functional and operational requirements.
ResponsibilitiesValidate deployed SCADA and EPMS systems against specifications and customer requirements.Modify and correct configurations, logic, and system settings within SCADA platforms.Perform commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of electrical power monitoring systems.Install, upgrade, and configure EPMS and SCADA software.Troubleshoot complex communication, networking, and device integration issues.Support HMI configuration and graphical screen development.Interpret contract documents, control narratives, and electrical drawings.Provide technical guidance to Level I engineers.Interface directly with customers, contractors, and internal teams.Deliver customer training on commissioned systems.Maintain detailed as-built documentation and commissioning records.Essential SkillsHands-on experience with SCADA systems.3–5 years of experience with SCADA commissioning and EPMS systems.Proven experience modifying SCADA configurations and correcting system logic.Proficiency with communication protocols such as Modbus, IEC, RS485, and BACnet.Solid networking knowledge including IP addressing, architectures, and device communications.Experience with programming/scripting concepts and databases, SQL preferred.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.Experience with Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Inductive Ignition is a plus.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 75%.Work EnvironmentThe role requires up to 75% travel. Training will be conducted remotely for 6 weeks prior to being on-site.
