We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer with hands‑on experience in PLC and HMI programming, industrial automation, and control system integration. This role will support the design, development, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated equipment and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation in electrical and control systems, enjoys solving complex problems, and can work collaboratively with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, program, test, and troubleshoot PLC‑based control systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar).Develop and modify HMI/SCADA interfaces to support operator usability and system performance.Support installation, commissioning, and startup of automated equipment and control panels.Diagnose and resolve issues related to sensors, drives, motors, instrumentation, and communication networks.Update and maintain electrical schematics, control drawings, and documentation.Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to integrate controls into new or existing equipment.Implement improvements to increase system reliability, throughput, and safety.Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and internal engineering practices.Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams as needed.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum 2–5 years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar).Experience developing or modifying HMI/SCADA applications (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, etc.).Strong understanding of industrial control hardware: VFDs, servos, sensors, relays, safety circuits, and instrumentation.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrisburg, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $50.00/hr.
