The Controls Engineer will lead all phases of a controls project, including concept and research, estimating support, component selection, network design, panel design, layout, device troubleshooting, PLC and HMI programming, on-site installation and debugging, and after-sales support.
ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all phases of controls projects from concept to completion.Conduct research and provide estimating support.Select components and design networks and panels.Troubleshoot devices and program PLC and HMI systems.Oversee on-site installation and debugging.Provide after-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction.Essential SkillsProficiency in PLC programming and Allen-Bradley systems.Experience with baggage handling systems and material handling equipment.Knowledge of FactoryTalk, HMI, VFDs, and vision systems.Strong understanding of controls engineering principles.Additional Skills & QualificationsDegree in Engineering or relevant experience.Familiarity with Rockwell Software and CompactLogix.Understanding of networking and Ethernet.Knowledge of UL508a, NEC, and NFPA standards.Experience with VFDs, servos, and sensors.Work EnvironmentThis position requires 50% travel with a typical schedule of 10 days on and 4 days off, though flexibility is required as the schedule may vary. Per diem for meals is based on the GSA rate for the location. The work involves specializing in baggage handling systems and offers opportunities for growth in a small company with big goals. The company is transitioning to an ESOP in the next 12 months, providing employees with an opportunity for long-term wealth building.
