Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
In this role, the Controls Engineer will be primarily responsible for maintaining and improving automotive manufacturing equipment. The position involves diagnosing intermittent problems, assisting electricians in getting online, and performing traceability work, such as tracking down bar codes, learning the history of parts, and finding solutions. Typical tasks also include specifying hardware, updating AutoCAD electrical drawings, and collaborating with the maintenance team. The engineer will also be assigned small project work, such as adding barcode scanners to existing lines or integrating blowers into robotic cells.
Responsibilities
Design and recommend control system architecture, products, components, and applications for manufacturing processes.Identify and resolve system integration and interface issues.Work with Fanuc and Siemens automation equipment, including troubleshooting Fanuc robots.Utilize Hirschmann managed switches and Ethernet/IP topology.Evaluate new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies, adapting them into specifications as appropriate.Design, develop, select components, evaluate, and install machine controls hardware.Confirm control system functionality, ensuring appropriate safety compliance by designing and/or executing test procedures.Prepare and/or review electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings.Collaborate with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.Perform periodic audits to keep equipment operating, troubleshoot breakdowns, request supplies, define and review preventive maintenance plans, call for repairs, and implement process improvements.Essential Skills
3+ years of controls engineering experience.Experience in troubleshooting Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs.Experience in troubleshooting Fanuc robots, CNC machining, electrical design, and HMI.Additional Skills & Qualifications
An Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Degree (Associates or higher) is nice to have.Easily motivated to advance within the company and skillset.Experience leading a group of Controls/Maintenance Technicians.Work Environment
The work environment is very fast-paced, as it is an automotive made-to-order supplier with three production shifts running. The facility is very clean and smaller in scale, with around 50 employees at the Rochester plant. The shift is 1st, from 7 AM to 4 PM.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
