Controls Engineer
Controls Engineer Full-Time | Onsite We’re looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team and play a key role in designing, programming, and supporting building automation and HVAC control systems. This position offers a mix of design engineering, system integration, project coordination, and customer support. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, technicians, suppliers, and customers to deliver reliable, high‑quality control solutions from concept through completion. What You’ll Do + Design the hardware and software components of complete control systems that meet project documentation and requirements. + Follow engineering standards and best practices to ensure consistent, accurate system designs. + Research equipment alternatives, obtain supplier information, collect pricing, review specification sheets, and confirm design feasibility. + Estimate equipment replacement costs and complete post‑sale re‑estimates to ensure projects remain cost‑effective. + Assist with bid packages, including technical data, CAD drawings, and presentation materials. + Coordinate material orders by reviewing lead times, handling needs, and communicating status to the project manager. + Help develop accurate engineering time estimates and project schedules. + Evaluate equipment compatibility, verify product quality, and improve existing system designs. + Manage final equipment purchasing and documentation. + Create project deliverables, including submittals, O&M manuals, and as‑built drawings. + Maintain strong customer relationships by reviewing concerns, implementing solutions, and communicating effectively with clients and internal teams. What You BringRequired Skills + PLC programming fundamentals. + Ability to read and create electrical diagrams and schematics. + Strong understanding of automation systems. + Exposure to Visio and experience with CAD tools. + General electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability. Preferred Skills + Experience with EcoStruxure, SmartStruxure, or Schneider Electric automation products. + HMI development experience. + Strong background in controls design or building automation engineering. Education & Qualifications + Engineering degree from an accredited college or university. + 1+ years of relevant experience preferred. + Valid driver’s license required. Work Environment You will work with a wide range of technologies related to HVAC systems, building automation, and electrical controls. The role involves both office and field-related engineering tasks and requires strong adherence to engineering standards and project documentation requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
