Controls Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a Controls Engineers to support the launch and commissioning of next-generation CNC manufacturing equipment at a high-volume powertrain manufacturing facility. This role blends technical controls engineering with oversight of equipment vendors (OEMs). While the primary responsibility is coordinating and managing OEM activity during installation and launch, the successful candidate must also have the technical depth to step in and support troubleshooting and commissioning efforts as needed. Key Responsibilities + Oversee equipment OEMs during installation, commissioning, and startup of new CNC production lines + Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact during equipment launches + Support commissioning of multiple manufacturing lines, including block, head, and crank machining lines + Troubleshoot PLC, CNC, and controls-related issues during startup and ramp-up + Ensure equipment is released to production safely, on schedule, and to performance expectations + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support launch execution and production readiness + Track launch activities and escalate technical risks as required Technical Environment + CNC machining lines supporting engine and engine-component manufacturing + Siemens PLC-based systems + CNC platforms including Siemens Sinumerik and FANUC Required Qualifications + Hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs + Strong background supporting CNC-controlled manufacturing equipment + Experience with FANUC CNC controls + Familiarity with Siemens Sinumerik CNC systems + Ability to manage OEM relationships while providing technical oversight + Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, or production launches + Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Top Skills + Siemens PLC + CNC Controls + FANUC Control Systems Preferred Qualifications + Prior experience supporting new line or equipment launches + Strong communication and coordination skills + Ability to work independently and take ownership during critical launch phases Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY.
