Controls Engineer
Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer focused on the safety aspects of control systems. This role involves applying control systems and automation technologies to mitigate industrial hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing systems that prevent accidents, protect workers, and ensure the safe operation of machinery and industrial processes.

ResponsibilitiesConduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards in machinery, industrial processes, and workplaces.Design and implement safety control systems, including the use of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), automatic shut-off switches, and protective barriers.Ensure systems comply with relevant national and international safety standards and regulations, such as OSHA, ANSI, RIA, and ISO/EN.Validate that safety functions are working correctly and reliably through performance monitoring and scheduled proof testing.Provide consultation services, offering guidance on safety code compliance, machine guarding, and developing internal safety tools and systems.Essential SkillsProficiency in PLC programming.Strong electrical knowledge.Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree is required, with a preference for a degree in Engineering.Proficiency with standards like ANSI B11 (Safety of Machinery), ANSI/ISA-84, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
