Description We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and elevate the accounting operations for a growing, multistate, multistore organization based in Sioux Falls. This role is highly visible and hands-on, overseeing financial reporting, tax compliance, and operational accounting while guiding a developing team through continued expansion. Key Responsibilities + Oversee monthly financial statements, including bank reconciliations and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance. + Manage multistate tax filings (Sales, Use, and Excise) with timely and precise submission. + Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including oversight of payroll and benefits administration. + Build and maintain advanced financial models to support forecasting and strategic planning. + Support Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) accounting and construction‑related contract processes. + Maintain the general ledger with accurate documentation and data integrity. + Lead audits and prepare financial reports aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements. + Partner cross‑functionally to strengthen internal controls and streamline processes. + Provide hands-on support during peak periods, including transactional entry and operational assistance. Requirements Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business; CPA/MBA preferred. + 10+ years of progressive accounting experience. + Strong knowledge of construction industry accounting, including WIP and contract accounting. + Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, formula troubleshooting). + Experience with payroll systems and benefits administration. + Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced environment. + Expertise in financial reporting, general ledger management, and variance analysis. + Experience managing multistate tax compliance. + Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
