An established, member-focused financial institution in Alberta is seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. This is a broad, hands-on role with real influence—ideal for a CPA who enjoys combining technical excellence with people leadership and organizational impact.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Controller plays a critical role in overseeing all accounting and financial administration for the organization. You will lead both the Accounting and Finance functions, ensure the integrity of financial reporting, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Financial Leadership & ReportingLead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate, timely financial statementsOversee internal and external financial reporting (IFRS accounting standards)Prepare and review regulatory and management reportsPerform variance analysis and provide insights to support decision-makingAccounting & ControlsOversee general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets, and reconciliationsMaintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with legislation and policyCoordinate with internal, external, and regulatory auditorsEnsure records retention and documentation standards are metPeople & Department LeadershipLead and develop the Accounting and Finance teamsCoach and support direct reportsFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementTreasury, Liquidity & PolicySupport investment and liquidity management within regulatory and policy limitsContribute to interest rate analysis and recommendationsOversee corporate policy development, maintenance, and review cyclesEnsure compliance monitoring and risk management processes are effectiveWhat We’re Looking ForCPA designation (or actively working toward it)University degree in Accounting, Finance, or BusinessStrong knowledge of IFRS or good overall technical competenceProven experience leading accounting and finance functionsAdvanced Excel and MS Office skillsExcellent judgment, organization, and attention to detailStrong communication skills and executive presenceExperience in a credit union or cooperative environment is an asset, but not requiredWhy This Role?Senior leadership visibility and meaningful responsibilityA purpose-driven organization that puts members and community firstCompetitive compensation and benefitsRelocation assistance availableA chance to make a real impact while enjoying an Alberta lifestyle
