Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results‑driven Controller to lead all aspects of the company’s financial management and accounting operations. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting while partnering closely with the President, CEO, and COO to guide fiscal strategy and support continued growth.

The Controller will strengthen internal controls, improve profitability and cash flow, and provide actionable financial insights to support operational excellence. This position is 100% onsite in North Haven, CT and reports directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

Direct and manage all day‑to‑day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General LedgerEnsure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPMaintain and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure complianceOversee the year‑end audit and coordinate with external CPAs and tax advisors

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

Monitor, analyze, and forecast cash flow to support operational liquidity and growth initiativesManage credit and collections policies to minimize bad debt exposureOversee vendor payment terms and accounts payable strategy to balance supplier relationships with cash preservation

Planning, Analysis & Strategy

Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecastsPartner with operations leadership to analyze financial performance by department, product category, and business unitProvide variance analysis and actionable recommendations to improve margins and control costsAnalyze pricing models, customer and product profitability, and return on key investments

Executive Partnership & Growth Initiatives

Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO and COO on business strategy, capital investments, and expansion opportunitiesSupport M&A due diligence and post‑acquisition integration efforts as needed

Systems, Reporting & Team Leadership

Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and financial technologies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilitiesDevelop and refine financial dashboards and KPIs for leadership visibilityLead and develop a team of three direct reportsQualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field7–10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior finance leadership roleStrong knowledge of GAAP, cash flow management, and working capital strategiesExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skillsAbility to communicate financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholdersProven history of partnering with executive leadership on strategic and operational decisions

Preferred:

CPA or MBAExperience in distribution, construction supply, real estate, or similar industriesWork EnvironmentOnsite position in North Haven, CTStandard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PMOversees a team of three direct reportsCompany is in a growth phase, offering the opportunity to drive meaningful financial and operational improvementsJob Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of North Haven, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
