We are seeking a seasoned Controller to lead financial operations across a portfolio of companies within our entertainment and music organization. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing critical insights that guide strategic decision‑making.
Key DutiesFinancial ReportingProduce and evaluate financial statements for all affiliated entities, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports used for internal, banking, and certified purposes.Consolidation & Group ReportingPrepare consolidated trial balances in Excel for quarterly reporting cycles.Work closely with the CFO to finalize consolidated financials and assess cash flow trends.Monthly ReportingCreate monthly flash reports that incorporate consolidated budgets, prior‑year data, and current financial activity.Update and complete consolidated operating statements as required.Variance Analysis & ForecastingInvestigate variances between actual results and budgeted expectations.Develop forward‑looking financial projections and monitor performance against established budgets.Budget CoordinationCombine departmental and subsidiary budgets into a unified annual financial plan.Audit & Compliance SupportProvide auditors with schedules, supporting documentation, and explanations of prior‑year transactions.Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.Royalty AccountingOversee royalty calculations and payments, ensuring accurate and timely distribution to artists, producers, and other rights holders.Tax Preparation & Year‑End ClosePrepare local tax filings and assist the CFO with year‑end financial statements and related disclosures.Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to streamline financial procedures and implement enhancements that improve efficiency and accuracy.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.CPA certification preferred.Experience2–5 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally within the music or entertainment industries.Prior senior accountant experience is advantageous.Technical SkillsStrong understanding of GAAP.Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite and advanced Excel capabilities.Core CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Clear and effective written and verbal communication.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.Benefits401(k) / Pension planComprehensive medical and dental insurancePaid time off and company holidaysJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of New York, NY.
