Contract Supervisor

Role Purpose

To lead and supervise passive fire protection and fire door installation, remediation, and upgrade works across sites nationwide. This role involves hands-on supervision of works including fire stopping, fire compartmentation, and fire door installations, ensuring full compliance with current fire safety legislation and quality standards.

The role includes 30–50% lodging across the UK.

You will act as the on-site lead, coordinating operatives and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, while maintaining accurate compliance and handover documentation.

Key Responsibilities Site Management & Delivery

Supervise daily site operations for passive fire protection and fire door works.

Coordinate labour, materials, and equipment for fire stopping, fire door installation, remediation, and associated works.

Ensure all works are completed in line with specifications, manufacturer guidance, and relevant fire standards.

Monitor progress against programme and escalate delays, defects, or access issues promptly.

Carry out daily and weekly site inspections, quality checks, and compliance reviews.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Enforce site H&S rules, company procedures, and fire safety requirements at all times.

Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, and ensure RAMS are fully understood and followed.

Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, fire safety legislation, and best practice for passive fire works.

Report near misses, incidents, and non-conformances immediately.

Maintain a safe, tidy, and compliant working environment.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

Inspect works against drawings, fire strategies, specifications, and quality requirements.

Sign off completed passive fire protection and fire door installations, ensuring correct certification and records.

Capture photographic evidence, site notes, fire stopping details, and fire door installation records.

Support internal audits, client inspections, and third-party compliance checks.

Subcontractor & Client Coordination

Supervise and manage subcontractors delivering fire stopping and fire door works.

Ensure subcontractors work in line with company standards and fire compliance requirements.

Liaise professionally with clients, site teams, and stakeholders.

Attend site meetings and provide progress and compliance updates.

Problem-Solving & Leadership

Resolve on-site technical, quality, or access issues promptly.

Provide guidance, support, and leadership to operatives on fire protection works.

Escalate technical, compliance, or resource issues to the Contract or Project Manager.

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience supervising passive fire protection and/or fire door works.

Strong knowledge of fire stopping systems, fire compartmentation, and fire door installation principles.

Good understanding of H&S regulations, CDM, and fire safety compliance.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, fire strategies, specifications, and technical documents.

Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills.

Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple sites or workstreams.

IT-literate: confident using site reporting apps, email, and company systems.

Full UK Driving Licence.
