Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join the Audio Video Division in Warsaw, IN. The purpose of the Continuous Improvement Engineer is to reduce customer quality issues and create savings through innovative solutions. Position is responsible for leading project teams, determining project priorities, and completing projects on time. Position must work cross-functionally to continuously provide encouragement and problem-resolution to support the overall operations, transportation, and supply chain strategies. Significant travel (50+%) is required for this position.

 

What Will You Do?

Monitor and analyze customer feedback and drive executable actions to reduce occurrences and risks to maximize customer experience.Leader in CSR packaging initiatives.Work with procurement and product development teams on the design of new packaging.Evaluate current packaging against quality and cost specifications; make recommendations for improvements.Organize product and packaging samples for performance testing and oversee test processes and methods.Develop cost-benefit analysis for packaging design improvements.Create test plans and perform tests to evaluate proposed packaging improvements.Work with distribution teams on developing standard and best practices for packing shipments to improve quality and reduce cost.Maintain mode selection rules in AVD’s TMS (Transportation Management System) and recommend changes to increase effectiveness and/or efficiency.Evaluate transportation and logistics contracts and their impact on AVD’s overall operation.Use both AVD and vendor reporting tools to ensure freight rules are effective.Work with transportation on freight claim resolutions and future improvements.Regularly meet with new and potential business partners.Coordinate and lead continuous improvement projects to improve the effectiveness and/or efficiency of transportation and logistical operations.Act as a point of contact for escalated issues connected to transportation and logistics.Provide guidance and education to internal customers surrounding the use of packaging and supply chain.Represent AVD at trade shows, trade associations, and vendor meetings.Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Minimum Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in packaging, manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering and a minimum of five (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; or combination of relevant education and experience.Experience with LTL, TL, and parcel transportation modes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ERP systems (SAP).Experience with SolidWorks.Experience with warehouse operations.Advanced computer skills (Excel, Access, database reporting).

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and make coordinated movements of the fingers for using a keyboard.May require ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area.Long-distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed 10% travel.
