The successful candidate will teach introductory and intermediate Spanish language courses and contribute to the ongoing development and vitality of the department’s undergraduate language program.Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian Order. Duties and Responsibilities: We seek candidates who are deeply committed to excellence in language teaching and who bring a strong cultural and pedagogical perspective on the Spanish-speaking world into the classroom. The successful candidate will teach language courses using student-centered, proficiency-oriented, and inclusive pedagogical approaches; contribute actively to the advancement of Villanova’s Spanish language curriculum and broader departmental initiatives; work closely with undergraduate students through teaching, mentoring, and academic advising; and participate in departmental service and collaborative program development. CNT faculty are also expected to remain professionally active. Villanova provides support at the department, college, and university levels for professional development, curricular innovation, and conference travel. CNT faculty at Villanova are eligible for promotion. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Spanish Studies, Spanish Linguistics, or a closely related field, or an equivalent terminal degree. Near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English. Demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate language instruction. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated effectiveness or strong potential for innovative, student-centered, and inclusive pedagogy in language instruction.Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, collegial, and program-oriented departmental environment.Interest in curricular development, assessment, and pedagogical innovation at the lower- and intermediate-level language curriculum.
