At ARCO, an Intern has the opportunity to assist Project Managers with the following:
Estimating – Describing project proposals and assigning dollar values to the projectsScheduling – Creating a working timeline for subcontractors/trades in order to complete the project on timeDesign meetings – Attend design meetings with owner and team to understand design pro structural engineers, architectsBuyout – Send bid instructions, schedule, and drawings to subcontractors. Receive and evaluate proposals, then award the subcontractsPermitting– Fill out permit forms, submit forms with drawings and fees, then send to city/county/fire and wait for approvalShop Drawing and Submittal Review – Receive shop drawing or submittal from subcontractor, give to PM, communicate to subcontractor that they can begin ordering material and workingBilling – Subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applicationsJob Site Visits – Visit job site with PM, make sure project is running smoothlyNECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled in Civil/Mechanical/Architectural or Construction Management Bachelor’s degree programMinimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0Previous Internship or Co-op construction experience preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic
