GFT is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our Construction Services team. This role is responsible for leading and managing Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) projects, ensuring quality delivery, regulatory compliance, and strong client relationships. The position supports complex transportation projects while ensuring adherence to applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The preferred location for this position is Houston, Texas.
What you’ll be challenged to do:
The Construction Project Manager reports to the Transportation Construction Service Lead in Texas and partners closely with Construction Managers, CEI staff, and Business Development to ensure project obligations are met and successful outcomes are achieved for clients.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Lead and manage all phases of CEI projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeoutManage CEI project teams, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to required specifications, procedures, and the governing Project ManualOversee and coordinate field inspection, documentation, and project controls activitiesServe as the primary liaison with the client, contractors, subconsultants, and internal project teamsMonitor project performance, budgets, and schedules; implement corrective actions to ensure successful deliveryManage and review project documentation, reporting, pay estimates, change orders, and closeout materials in accordance with the client and company requirementsSupervise, mentor, and evaluate CEI field staff, inspectors, and record keepers, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountabilityEnsure compliance with QA/QC procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulationsOversee and schedule CEI and Construction Management & Testing (CMT) activities across multiple projectsEvaluate project issues and develop solutions to address deficiencies, risks, or constructability challengesParticipate in progress meetings, constructability reviews, and issue-resolution discussionsEnsure adherence to governing set-aside programs, and other compliance programsSupport business development efforts, including proposal development, client presentations, and pursuit strategiesManage Construction Services equipment inventory and maintenancePerform other job responsibilities as assignedWhat you will bring to our firm: Bachelor’s degree in EngineeringMinimum of ten (10) years of experience in transportation engineering, construction engineering, or related fieldProfessional Engineering (PE) license in the State of TexasExperience working with municipal and/or local government clientsDemonstrated experience in construction and contract management What we prefer you bring: Valid U.S. driver’s licenseTxDOT LGP101 (Local Government Project Procedures) certificationTxDOT Category 11.11.1 – Roadway Construction, Management, and InspectionTxDOT Category 11.2.1 – Bridge Construction, Management, and InspectionTxDOT Category 11.5.1 – Construction Scheduling Project ManagerBusiness development and marketing experience Compensation:The salary range for this role is $135,000.00-$145,000.00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. Travel: Anticipate approximately 50% travel throughout the state of Texas.
