Job Title: Construction Project EngineerJob Description The Project Engineer will support a mid-sized design-build firm specializing in industrial facilities such as warehouses, assembly buildings, and automation-focused structures. This role is essential in assisting with project execution from pre-construction planning through closeout. The Project Engineer will work on 2-3 projects simultaneously, each ranging from 10-14 months in duration. This position is ideal for candidates seeking a long-term construction management career path, as Project Engineers typically advance to Project Managers within 2-3 years. Responsibilities + Coordinate submittals and track materials. + Update schedules and distribute drawing sets. + Maintain project documentation and support subcontractor oversight. + Ensure all project communication is organized and timely. + Participate in weekly subcontractor meetings to track submittals, material orders, and drawing updates. Essential Skills + 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager for a General Contractor. + Completion of 1-2 industrial construction projects. + Experience with warehouse, assembly, or automation facility project types. + Strong material tracking and subcontractor coordination experience. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. + Design-build project experience. + Strong problem-solving ability with practical decision-making skills. + Ability to maintain effective relationships with subcontractors, internal teams, and external partners. + High attention to detail with strong documentation standards. Work Environment 95% in-office, 5% onsite for weekly subcontractor meetings (3-4 hour meetings). Hours: 8am–5pm (flexible). Collaborative culture with project managers, superintendents, and design partners. This is a salaried position with a potential $700/monthly car allowance depending on the location and strength of the candidate. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmington Hills, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
