**Job Title: Construction Materials Testing Technician**
Job Description
The Construction Materials Testing Technician is responsible for performing field tests on construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates. This role ensures that materials used in construction projects meet required specifications and quality standards. The technician will work closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to support safe and compliant construction practices.
Responsibilities
+ Collect and prepare samples of construction materials for laboratory testing.
+ Conduct field and lab tests such as concrete slump, air content, and compressive strength tests.
+ Perform soil compaction and moisture content tests using nuclear density gauges.
+ Execute asphalt density and gradation tests.
+ Document and analyze test results; prepare detailed reports for project stakeholders.
+ Ensure all testing procedures comply with industry and project-specific standards.
+ Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
+ Communicate findings and potential issues to project managers and engineering teams.
+ Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE on job sites.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in construction materials testing or related field (1–3 years).
+ Knowledge of construction, materials testing, quality assurance, and quality control.
+ Skill in conducting soil testing and quality testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in construction technology or related field preferred.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Work Environment
Field-based role with frequent travel to construction sites across the Madison area. Exposure to outdoor elements including heat, cold, dust, and noise. May require weekend or evening hours depending on project timelines. Will work with other Construction Materials Technicians on the same site.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Madison, Wisconsin.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
