As a Rail Construction Manager, you will manage all aspects of rail construction projects, working closely with clients, designers, and construction management teams. Responsibilities
+ Manage all aspects of the delivery of rail construction projects with clients, designers, and construction management teams.
+ Serve as the internal lead and primary client point of contact for assigned rail construction projects.
+ Review and verify rail construction plans, specifications, schedules, and estimate packages.
+ Travel to project locations for ongoing and upcoming projects.
+ Support Construction Management and Resident Engineering services to develop inspector/coordinator teams.
+ Serve as a technical leader in the development and execution of construction activities for major company programs.
+ Plan, organize, and supervise work of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians.
+ Lead and participate in the development of marketing, contractual, and production documents, including project scope, budget, and schedule.
+ Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate work effort with the team.
+ Monitor Contractor Quality Documents, including QC test reports and contractor Quality Management Plan (QMP).
+ Track submittals and requests for information (RFI) including submission dates, version control, response dates, and comment tracking.
+ Monitor storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) compliance.
+ Ensure compliance with FRA 49 CFR 214 and FRA 49 CFR 219 rules, and eRailSafe.
+ Collaborate with Business/Accounting/Management teams for project reviews.
+ Participate in client and stakeholder visits, site visits, field assessments, and construction inspection as needed.
+ Mentor junior staff and support their development.
+ Apply industry experience to enhance team performance in delivering technical excellence.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction planning and management, including field engineering, construction submittals, estimating, scheduling, and site safety.
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science, or a closely related field.
+ Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Prolog, Primavera, and Bluebeam.
+ Experience with Microsoft Office.
+ Experience in rail, industrial, or transit projects is strongly preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 6 or more years of experience preferred.
+ Engineering degree preferred.
+ Software proficiency in MicroStation, Inroads, and AutoCAD.
+ Experience with topographic field surveying (GPS and/or Total Station).
+ Familiarity with local freight client design manuals for public projects.
+ Experience working with AREMA's Manual for Railway Engineering.
+ Expertise with freight rail client guidelines for construction management services.
+ SWPPP SP Certificate (QSD preferred).
+ Site supervision experience preferred.
Work Environment
This role requires 50-60% travel and offers the opportunity to work with a team in an employee-owned firm. The position is preferably based out of Tennessee or Kentucky. The work environment emphasizes teamwork, diversity, and personal accountability.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brentwood, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $55.29/hr.
