Location:
This role is based out of our El Paso, TX office.
Overview:
We are seeking a highly capable Construction Project Engineer to serve as part of the Owner’s on‑site project management team for the construction of a new power generation facility. This individual will oversee contractor activities, support project controls and reporting, ensure adherence to contract requirements, and drive quality and schedule performance across a large, complex construction program.
Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction Oversight & Progress Monitoring
+ Oversee daily construction contractor activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
+ Track and evaluate contractor progress, collaborating closely with the project scheduler to identify deviations from the baseline schedule and drive corrective actions.
+ Provide detailed reporting on construction status, schedule risks, and field performance.
Quality Assurance
+ Partner with project inspectors to assess workmanship and verify conformance to quality standards.
+ Identify, document, and track resolution of quality deficiencies, ensuring issues are escalated and closed out appropriately.
Contract & Payment Administration
+ Review and analyze contractor monthly payment applications.
+ Validate earned value against field documentation and confirm compliance with contract documents.
+ Prepare payment recommendations for Owner approval.
Risk, Permits & Logistics Coordination
+ Support project risk identification, analysis, and mitigation planning.
+ Monitor and track the status of project permits, highlighting any risks to schedule.
+ Manage oversight of Owner‑Furnished Equipment deliveries and notify the Project Manager of discrepancies between vendor and contractor delivery schedules.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Field Support
+ Work closely with contractors, vendors, and field engineers to resolve technical and logistical issues.
+ Escalate concerns to the Project Manager when necessary.
+ Track and report on startup and commissioning progress, including all contract‑required training.
Change Management
+ Partner with the Change Management Lead to identify, assess, and implement project changes, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with contractual requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of directly related professional experience (6+ years).
+ Minimum of 6 years of relevant construction or project engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in turbine power generation and high‑voltage electrical distribution.
+ Prior involvement with major industrial or infrastructure construction projects.
Skills & Abilities
+ Advanced understanding of construction management processes, means, and methods.
+ Working knowledge of construction materials, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
+ Strong leadership capability with the ability to guide field processes and influence contractor performance.
+ Excellent time management and organizational skills; able to manage competing priorities effectively.
+ Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to mitigate construction challenges proactively.
+ Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr.
